By scratching, your nails generate damage to the skin and the skin becomes irritated and reddened. And guess what? This only increases the intensity of the itch. So, the more you scratch, the more itchy it gets and the worse your eczema looks. And, in this way, you have fallen into an unhealthy vicious circle.
Tips to prevent scratching
- When the itching becomes very intense, you can try tapping the area or applying pressure.
- If you can't avoid scratching, you can cover the area.
- Keep the nails short.
- For small children, socks or gloves can be worn at night.
- It is also essential to keep them busy or keep their minds distracted to avoid involuntary scratching, for this reason, constant recreational or educative activities are ideal to stop scratching.
Baths to relieve itching 🛀
Dead Sea Salt Baths
Dead Sea Salt can be very beneficial for people with eczema, as its high mineral content can help soothe and moisturize the skin. Here we share a way to prepare a soothing bath with it for your little one:
In a bathtub with warm water, add 2 tablespoons of dead sea salt and let soak for 10 to 15 minutes. If it is a baby bathtub, 1 teaspoon is enough.
Apple vinegar baths
This type of vinegar has become a good natural skin care supplement, plus, it helps reduce itching, so it helps relieve the annoying symptoms of eczema.
To try a bath with apple cider vinegar:
- Add ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar to a tub of warm water.
- Soak for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly all over.
- Moisturize skin within minutes of getting out of the bath.

- Soak an entire cotton cloth in cool water.
